Description
Desert Barn uses energy efficient design principles and construction.
The building plan allows for the maximization of floor area, with minimized
wasted space. The design incorporates sustainable materials for their recycled
content, recyclability, and their manufacturing process. Chemically stable materials
and construction techniques ensure a healthy indoor environment. Passive design
for heating and cooling, and the careful placement of living spaces, assure
comfort through all seasons. Building material and massing integrates the building
into the landscape and terrain. The roof is designed to catch rain water to
store in a cistern for later use. The building functions as a holistic working
unit.

Construction
Info
Wall construction is flexible; could be SIP's, super-insulated framed walls,
or ICF's. Main mass walls can be block, concrete, or rammed earth.
Blueprints,
etc.
Joe has created several semi-custom designs for this house concept and will customize and produce the blueprints for any client. This design is now under construction. Joe prefers to call this a semi-custom plan that can be modified and customized to meet your needs, as well as engineered to your specific location. The hard part is done, so he is offering to complete the design at $1.00 per sf, with any changes to be hourly or to be negotiated at a fee based upon your needs.
