This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house features balcony verandas and an entrance courtyard and arcade. It has a solar clerestory with skylights and optional solar collector panels. Other optional features would be a carport or garage, rainwater catchment on the roof, and a walk-out basement if the site is sloped. Enclosed area = 1,388 sq.ft.
Suggested construction: prefabricated ferrocement foundations, walls, & roof; affordable unibody disaster and fire resistant building envelope; wall and roof cavities allow for concealed service runs and may be insulated; continuous thermal break program isolates interior from exterior temperature variations. Our suggestion is to spray polyisocyanurate spray foam on the inside face of walls and roof cavities (after service runs have been installed.) Cutaway View This a passive solar plan if it is oriented so that the top of the page faces south. Large glass veranda and balcony doors provide solar input shaded by overhang in summer. Continuous thermal break and super-insulation protect interiors. Concrete floor slab stores and distributes heat. The skylights are meant to face north, and can be protected by seasonal covers. Angus Macdonald will draw the working drawings once an order is placed, so it may take some time for the plans to be delivered. Plan can be customized for your site and preferences.
These plans include all four elevations, scaled floorplans, cross section details, other significant construction details. *In some cases the prints may be on 24"x36" sheets. |
